These terms form an agreement between you and Ride (“we”, “us”). By using the Ride passenger app, the Ride Driver app, or ride-app.us, you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use Ride.
Ride is a technology platform that connects passengers with independent drivers. We do not provide transportation. Drivers are independent contractors, not our employees or agents. The transport contract is between the passenger and the driver.
You may cancel free of charge within the window shown in the app after booking. After that, a cancellation fee may apply to cover the driver's time and travel. Drivers may cancel if a passenger does not appear at the pickup point within a reasonable time.
If a trip was charged in error, did not take place, or was materially different from what you booked, contact us and we will investigate. Refunds are issued to the original payment method.
Ride-hailing in California is regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission, which classifies services like Ride as a Transportation Network Company. Drivers on the platform are required to carry the insurance coverage California law mandates for TNC drivers across all periods of app use — from going online, through accepting a trip, to completing it.
Drivers are responsible for keeping their licence, registration, insurance, and any required local permits current, and for providing proof on request.
Riders and drivers must behave lawfully and respectfully. The following will result in immediate removal from the platform:
Trips are tracked. Riders receive a pickup PIN which the driver must be told before a trip can start — check the vehicle and plate match what the app shows before getting in. Report any safety concern through Help & safety in the app, and call emergency services first if anyone is in immediate danger.
Driver earnings are paid through Stripe Connect to the account you connect. You are responsible for your own taxes on that income. We do not withhold tax.
You may delete your account at any time in the app. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or where required by law.
Ride is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that a driver will be available, that estimates will be accurate, or that the service will be uninterrupted. Map, routing, and traffic data comes from third parties and may be wrong. We are not responsible for the conduct of any rider or driver.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of your use of Ride is limited to the amount you paid for the trip in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
We may update these terms. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. Material changes will be notified in the app.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and Ride each consent to that jurisdiction.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the California Consumer Legal Remedies Act or any other consumer protection law that cannot be waived by agreement.
